What goes on in their heads, is something like…”everyone here is out to get me.” Their world view is that they are vulnerable, and that everyone is on the take, and that it is dog eat dog…they either get eat or get eaten. It’s not just how they act, it’s how they see and interpret the world…their actions them just seem necessary for them.
I knew a few Bethanys in my school life. And being male is no immunity to the evil of your local Bethany. One such girl dumped a trashcan over my head. I turned and looked at her and said “are you so addicted to attention that you have to resort to the tactics of a five year old? Could you not at least put in the effort of someone with the maturity level of a ten year old? I am disappointed in your lack of imagination and will respond as a preadolecent male would just to keep in your theme.” which at that point I kicked the chair out from under her causing her to have to grab the rafter in a skirt leaving her to be rescued by her boyfriend who was more interested in seeing her panties.
I’m a guy, and I went to an all boys’ school, and I can honestly say that I never knew of ANYTHING like Beth happening there. I feel so blessed.
