When I saw this video on The Frisky.com today I knew I had to share it with you. This little lady has such a strong sense of self at only 5 years old! She is an honorary HOT MESS! It is highly important that parents instill independence within their children; especially their daughters. My father always told me that I would have to work harder to do as well as my brother. He encouraged me to go after all of my goals and never said, “Go marry a doctor.” It is because of my dad that I’m fiercely independent and self sufficient. I’m happy to see that my generation of women have broken even more boundaries in order for the next to achieve even greater accomplishments.

Actually, now she’s everyone’s wingman! I’d like to introduce you all to Diana’s brand new blog “My Wingman Diana“!
On it, Diana takes reader love advice questions and answers them daily. They had a soft launch of the blog last month, and they’ve really been picking up steam. So now you know, when Diana’s not here, that’s what she’s doing!
Once a week, we’ll check in over there to give you all a taste of what’s happening. Today’s advice is all about second chances… and when not to give them!
FOOL ME ONCE
Dear Diana & Dr. Archer,
I broke up with my boyfriend two months ago because he was unfaithful. Last week he showed up with a date at the restaurant where I worked and specifically asked for me as his waitress. At first I was upset, but decided to handle this professionally and not to show that it bothered me. But then, after dinner he left a rose and a seven-page note for me expressing his undying love and apologizing! What should I do?

Hi JD,
I can understand your confusion but ask yourself would you ever be able to trust this man again? Read on…

Diana interviews Stan Lee! The prolific creator answers a few pressing questions…
by Geoff on February 1, 2011 at 3:33 pmOur very own Diana Falzone got the chance to ask the legendary Stan Lee, creator of such little-known comic icons like Spider-man, The X-Men, The Hulk, Iron Man and the Avengers, a few questions for the great people over at Under the Radar. Click Here for the full post, and read an excerpt below!
Falzone: Some people may not know that you were in the Army and served in the Signal Corps. What was your experience like serving?
Lee: Hours before I was to ship overseas to be a telephone line repairman for troops in combat, someone learned I had written comics and I was yanked out of my assignment and sent to Astoria, Queens where the Signal Corps had a training film division. My job was to write training films and to create visual training aids for the troops—which I did.
Falzone: Since you were so young in the industry, did you ever feel that you had to prove yourself more than your older coworkers?
Lee: Absolutely. It’s strange; even though I’m quite a bit older now; I still always feel the need to prove myself.
Falzone: Was there a particular person who mentored you in the comic book business?
Lee: Yes, one person. There was my publisher, Martin Goodman. Simon and Kirby didn’t stay long enough to mentor me and there was no one else.
Falzone: You’ve created some of the most recognizable comics of all time. Is there one particular comic or character that remains your personal favorite?
Lee: I love ‘em all. Whichever one I was writing was my favorite at that time!
Falzone: What advice do you have for soldiers looking to get into the comic book field?
Lee: Depends. If someone wants to be an artist, just draw up some sample pages—with original drawings, not copies—and send them to one of the editors. For one who wants to be a writer it’s more difficult. The best course is to sell something in another field—a TV script, or a movie script, or a novel—then uses that as a “door-opener” with a comic book editor. You see there are so many “name” writers eager to write comics today, that there’s really no reason for an editor to hire someone who isn’t very experienced.
There’s a lot more of the Q & A over at Under the Radar, and quite a few tidbits & trivia I never knew about the prolific creator. Great stuff!
Hi there,
My inspiration for Anna’s first crush Hunter was based on my first romantic interest, Charlie. I met him when I was 15 years old. He was a year older than me, super cute, and the star athlete. The first time I saw him the ability to speak ceased to exist. I only saw him. Charlie, on the other hand, was clueless about my feelings. It took many weeks before I ever decided to approach him. (Oh yeah and I may have joined track to just be in his company. Bad idea.) Did it go smoothly? Well, stick around to see what happens….
XO,
Diana
Hi Gang,
Like I said it’s a big week. Read below for Diana’s first blog, and soon we’ll have her own page up and running, and as you see above, there’s a brand new strip.
But more importantly, we’ve just set up our emails! Not that you’ll want to email me, as I am uninteresting, but you can if you want (geoff@hotmesscomic.com).
But even better, you can email Diana at diana@hotmesscomic.com with all your relationship or life questions. And if you want to email any of the characters in our little world, they have emails too! Just email them at their character name (like anna@hotmesscomic.com, zoey@hotmesscomic.com, slumper@hotmesscomic.com, and so on), and I’m sure they can take time out of their busy schedules to answer.
Okay, I’m off to write some more strips, so enjoy the comic, and know that we’d love to hear from you!
Hi. I’m Diana aka Anna aka a HOT MESS : ) For many people, high school was one of their most trying times. I was one of the many. There were days when I didn’t want to face my frenemy, my crush, or my Algebra teacher. Seriously, another pop quiz on algorithms…ick! I wish I had a manual to guide me through the sticky situations of girl on girl crime, flirting with a cute guy, or making new friends. Well, I wanted to make my wish a reality for a new generation. Consider my experiences your helpful reminder that we’ve all been there and that there is a solution to what may seem the biggest drama of your life.
